Road Not Taken is a challenging isometric adventure game developed by Spry Fox. It is based on a poem of the same name by Robert Frost. The game features a forester who arrives at a distant snowy town and has to save children who got lost in the forest. The game has a fifteen-year career, with each level being one year. The forest surrounding the player character changes every year, and they have to navigate it to progress deeper into the forest.

The gameplay involves combining several trees, rocks, or sometimes even deer to progress through the forest. Each passage through the forest has its own requirements, and carrying objects requires energy. The game has predators and spirits that can take away energy from the player. The game also has a crafting system, and as the player learns more recipes, the world around them becomes more logical. The player can interact with characters in the game and share items found on levels to receive special loot as rewards.
